Outreach Summary :
Operation First Base was directed by ML Woodruff, the Sports Outreach Director for Istrouma Bapist Church. A number of other churches from the neighborhoods in which the four clinics were held participated in significant ways.
Each clinic involved two hours of baseball and softball instruction provided by local high school and college players. Following the instruction, hot dogs and hamburgers were served and there was a program consisting of music and a message. The message at each clinic was about how we can all have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ and how that relationship can be so important in shaping the type of people we become.
Approximately 800 kids participated in the four clinics. A number of them expressed a desire to begin or further develop their relationship with God. Volunteers from the churches that participated will be in contact with those children and their parents to assist them.
